OCTAVE refplot.m - Determine apparent horizontal velocities and intercept times of refractions
refplot prompts for:
BSEGY file name
(*.seg) (shell terminal input)
PopUP GUI shows file name, number of traces, tmax, and
sample interval
Choose X-axis for plot, [stations | offset ] (GUI Click Box)
LOOP
Pick a segment? (GUI Click box)
Click START and END of an interval to least squares linear
fit to first arrivals
CLICK on point to label velocity, intercept and 95%
confidence
Chi-Square PopUp GUI, click OK
Loop back, do more, click NO when done
Basic Seismic Utilities (BSU) program run in Octave or Matlab. Within an octave session, type refplot and then on prompt, enter the bsegy format file name (example: xxxx.seg). Then answer prompts as shown above. Segments of the data are picked for solution of apparent horizontal velocity. The mouse is used to click a start and then stop offset. A third click marks the location on the plot for labeling the velocity and intercept. The program loops for additional intervals until the user indicates they are done.

plot.ps ( for Postscript )
plot.fig ( for program xfig CAD)
NOTE: MATLAB can not produce plot files, only works in
OCTAVE.
Also, tinv(PD,DF) command is for Student-T distribution, NOT
COMPATIBLE WITH MATLAB
